Release Paper
Release paper is used in the dry mount process to protect the image to be mounted and keep the press clean of stray adhesives. It also acts as a heat buffer allowing air to escape from between the image and adhesive and the adhesive and the substrate before the heat begins to bond the adhesive. It is an essential element of the mounting process. Release material is used repeatedly, lasting many mounts in a press.
